ECS SCOTLAND is a school for adults aged 30+ only. Minimum age is 30, average age range is 45 - 65. We do not offer junior courses or young adult courses.

ECS Scotland is an independent, family-run school of English conveniently located in Edinburgh city centre, easily reached from all areas of the city. The school is surrounded by a large selection of cafes, shops, bus stops, parks and tourist attractions.

ECS Scotland specialises in intensive one-to-one and small group courses for professional people who need to communicate in English for work or study. Guaranteed maximum of 5 students per group. Small groups mean that every student has the best possible opportunity to participate and learn in every class.

All General English courses focus primarily on developing and building vocabulary and speaking and listening communication skills. Grammar, reading and writing skills are covered as necessary for each group or in 1-to-1 lessons.

We offer a range experience courses including English with Sketching, English with Yoga & Wellbeing and our most popular Experience Edinburgh General English course which includes some hours inside the classroom and "walk & talk" outside the classroom.

English for specific purposes such as Business, Finance, Medicine, Marketing, Tourism and Environmental Science courses are available from beginner to advanced levels.

ECS Scotland is a TOLES (Test of Legal English Skills) examination centre and offers intensive Legal English courses throughout the year.


Courses are available throughout the year, starting any Monday and finishing any Friday.

Homestay accommodation is available with friendly native speaker hosts and in conveniently located areas. Hotel recommendations are available on request.
