New computer-based measure of English language ability available to test takers

Pearson, one of the worldwide global leaders in technology and assessment for education, has launched Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic), the company’s new computer-based academic test of English language proficiency. To celebrate the launch, Pearson are offering English UK member centres the chance to win some fantastic prizes. Students also have the chance to win a PTE Academic test.

Do you worry that your lessons aren’t centred enough on learners? Do you always set homework, pre-teach vocabulary or ask comprehension questions which don’t really check what students have learned?

Delegates at this year’s English UK Teachers’ Conference were challenged with these thought-provoking questions, and more. Not only did they leave the day with a selection of inspiring teaching ideas, but also new ways of thinking about their own classroom practice.

English UK is now accepting proposals for workshops and presentations for the annual ELT Management Conference that takes place in Reading on Friday 5th and Saturday 6th March 2010. Application Deadline: Monday 21st December 2009
