Evaluating the economic impact of the ELT sector on the UK

We are delighted to have commissioned a new economic impact report to support our lobbying efforts for a better operating environment for UK ELT.

The report's findings will be launched in front of government officials, media representatives, members, partners and industry stakeholders at our Parliamentary Reception in May.

An invaluable tool for our future campaigning

The new findings will be an invaluable tool for our future campaigning.

Our previous economic impact report, published in 2015, highlighted that the accredited ELT sector received 550,000 students annually (60% from the EU), had a GVA of £1.429bn and supported over 35,000 jobs.

The 2015 data has been highly influential in raising our industry's profile among the public and policymakers nationally, featuring in the government's 2019 International Education Strategy. But, now almost ten years old, the need for new up-to-date economic data is critical.

Input needed from the whole accredited English language teaching sector

We need all accredited English language teaching centres in the UK to support the research initiative and complete the survey to ensure the data is as robust, accurate and powerful as possible.

(An accredited ELT centre is defined as one approved by the government for students studying English in the UK on a short-term study visa.)

The deadline to contribute and complete the survey is Friday 20 December.
