Description of centre

Welcome to The University Centre for Academic English. We provide a wide range of courses and services for new and existing students at The University of Manchester.

At the University Centre for Academic English, language is our speciality, and we have decades of experience and expertise that you can benefit from when you study with us.

We have approximately 2,000 students studying our full-time academic English language courses each year, from all over the world.

Our English Language courses are accredited by The British Council and British Association of Lecturers in English for Academic Purposes (BALEAP) and we are proud to be recognised as the number one university language centre in the UK, according to the EL Gazette University Language Centre rankings from 2019-2023.

When you study with us, you can take advantage of our suite of multimedia language learning facilities which serve all our students and, indeed, all the students of the School of Arts Languages and Cultures' degree programmes.
