Hungary's Foreign Language Learning Programme restarting for summer 2022
The Hungarian government's Foreign Language Learning Scholarship Programme is a great opportunity for students to experience UK ELT and for centres to access a previously small market.
English UK hosted representatives from the Tempus Public Foundation at the marketing conference in February 2020. Tempus is the agency operating this grant programme for the Hungarian government. Unfortunately, the programme was unable to go ahead in 2020 or in 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Tempus is now planning for summer 2022.
This scholarship programme will be open to Hungarian secondary school students aged 14-23. The students will be eligible for a fully-funded two-week English language summer course in either the UK, Ireland or Malta.
English UK is liaising with the Tempus Public Foundation, British Council and British Embassy in Hungary to facilitate the smooth running of this programme, which will be critical for UK ELT sector recovery, including mitigating the possible impact of the end of ID card travel to the UK.
We are also working with these organisations to develop a training programme for Hungarian teachers and will share further details once this is confirmed.
The opportunity
Tempus is inviting expressions of interest from British Council accredited English language teaching centres to receive Hungarian students as part of the Foreign Language Learning Scholarship Programme 2022.
There are potentially 90,000 students applicants for these summer courses which must take place between 17 June and 31 August 2022.
ELT centres that would like to be involved, should express their interest in this Foreign Language Learning Scholarship Programme by emailing efl@tpf.hu.
Even if they previously registered for the programme before the pandemic, organisations will need to express their interest anew.
Any questions should be sent to efl@tpf.hu.
