Tim Barker, the former managing director of the Language in Group, has been appointed first commercial director of StudyWorld.
His appointment is the latest development in a period of rapid transformation for StudyWorld, initiated by its 2017 move to the iconic QEII Centre and becoming a UK-focused event. The event celebrates its 50th anniversary next year.
"I'm really excited by the enormous potential of StudyWorld as an event. It has never stood still, but always developed, and that's exciting, and we have a very positive message which I want to get out to everyone," said Tim. He added: "I always loved working with English UK as a member, and it's a great time to become part of it."
Jodie Gray, English UK's director of strategy, welcomed Tim's appointment. "We're really delighted to have appointed Tim, who'll be well-known to many in the industry. He's already using his many years' experience to help us build on our recent changes to StudyWorld in positive ways, and will be in touch with our members, corporate members and others in the industry in the coming weeks."
Tim began his career at English UK member Language in Totnes before moving on to the Language in Group, where he worked in sales and business development before becoming managing director. Most recently he has been working in Vietnam for Apollo Education and Training.
