Christmas is celebrated all across the UK, and for many a favourite part of those festivities is the Christmas market. We've made a list for some of the best Christmas markets around the country so you only have to check which one is it nearest and enjoy all the fun.

London

• Winter Wonderland: For a mega dose of festive London spirit, you can't get much better than a stroll through Winter Wonderland 2017 in Hyde Park. It's an epic celebration of all that is Christmas. You'll find winter markets, festive fairground rides, ice skating, warming winter food, grottos and of course plenty of mulled wine or glühwein.

• Leicester Square: It's the second time in a row that the festive activities come to Leicester Square in central London. It's home to Santa's grotto and the traditional Christmas market full with food, drinks and gift stalls.

   

Bath

• Bath Christmas Market: It is the annual event in Bath. The market will see 200 wooden chalets selling an assortment of gifts and produce in Bath's city centre. As well as the goodies on offer, there will be choirs, carol singers, musicians and theatre students as well as the market stalls.

Birmingham

• Birmingham German Christmas Market: The Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Cllr Anne Underwood, officially opened the German Market in Victoria Square on November 16, at 17:30pm,  before she switched on the city's festive lights. There are plenty food, drinks and gift stalls to choose from.

Bristol

• Bristol Christmas market: The Christmas markets are back to transform Bristol's Shopping Quarter in 2017. Broadmead will see the traditional German food and drink, with the new addition of Jägerbarn bar and beer garden. 

Manchester

• Manchester Christmas market: There are lots of Christmas markets in Manchester but the main market hub will again be based in Albert Square, in front of Manchester Town Hall and the ice rink is back in Cathedral Gardens. Launched in 1999 as just a single site in St Ann's Square, the markets are now a sprawling and hugely popular festive attraction that attract millions of visitors each year. 

Edinburgh

• Edinburgh's winter Festivals: Don't miss the festive markets in the city centre, a popular highlight of Edinburgh's Christmas. Enjoy delicious food and drink and traditional crafts at the Scottish Market on George Street, pick up unique gifts and goods at the European Market in the Mound Precinct or choose presents for the wee ones in the Children's Market, part of Santa Land in Princes Street Gardens.

   

Wales

• Cardiff Christmas markets: Cardiff transforms into a 'Christmas city' as around 80 stalls with a rolling programme of 200 exhibitors take centre stage at Cardiff Christmas Market. There's a strong slant towards artists and craftspeople, whose hand-made wares appear alongside artisan food and drink. The main action happens around the pedestrianised streets at the top of The Hayes, right in the heart of the shopping area. It's also a short stroll from Cardiff's Winter Wonderland.

• Swansea Christmas: Christmas begins in Swansea at precisely 17:00 on Sunday November 19, when marching bands, magical floats, festive film characters, giant Christmas inflatables, dancing elves and Santa himself parade through the city centre to the switching-on of the Christmas lights. The following day, Swansea Christmas Street Market sets up shop to offer crafts, handmade gifts, fine foods and unique Christmas decorations. The popular Waterfront Winterland is also up and running until 7 January, with ice skating, Santa's grotto, funfair and festive food.

   

Northern Ireland

• Belfast Christmas market: Market Place will be returning to the grounds of the Belfast City Hall  for the 13th year for the much anticipated and highly popular Belfast Christmas Market! The gates will be open every day for visitors to explore a number of countries from across the world including Germany, Spain, France, Italy and a number of local traders. Santa will be visiting the market to meet families as there will be plenty of entertainment during our visit.
