The English UK summer inward mission took place between Monday 26 and Friday 30 July 2010. Eighteen agents from China took part in the mission, and were accompanied by a representative from the British Council in Beijing. The inward mission was aimed at agents who wished to visit and meet with representatives from English UK centres offering summer programmes, and focused on South and South East England.
The schedule started with a workshop in a seafront hotel in Brighton, which was attended by English UK members from throughout the UK. The Brighton workshop was followed by visits to Hastings, Canterbury, Banbury and Oxford. The week concluded with a second workshop, held in Central London. It was the first time in the UK for most of the agents, who were pleased to fit in some sightseeing during the week as well.
Feedback from both agents and educators was very positive. One agent commented, 'the inward mission allowed me to meet a good number of institutions within a short time period which is really cost effective and time effective. I got to know more about the nature of English UK and their members so that we can develop new business in the future.' One educator added, 'There was an excellent selection of substantial and professional agents and I look forward to close partnerships in the future.'
