British Council ELT Research Partnership Scheme
17 March 2010

The British Council invites proposals for the second ELT Research Partnership Scheme. Through this scheme we aim to promote partnerships between UK and overseas academic institutions, and to encourage and facilitate research that will impact on ELT practice around the world.  Partnership funding up to 20K sterling per project is available.

The invitation for proposals is on http://www.britishcouncil.org/learning-eltrpa-2010-awards.htm

The deadline for proposals is 30 April 2010. Any queries should be addressed to eltra@britishcouncil.org

The first call for proposals was issued and evaluated in 2009, and we are now working with partners on the following projects:

  • The impact of training on the classroom practice of Chinese secondary school teachers: evaluation of a UK programme, Reading University
  • Global practices in teaching English to young learners, Aston University
  • Computers and learner autonomy: trends & issues, Salford University
  • Perceptions & methods of learning English as an additional language by Singapore primary school children with dyslexia, De Montfort University
  • Identifying best practice in ELT INSET, Lancaster University
  • European (CEFR) vocabulary project, Manchester University
