Members can already start benefitting from a series of price reductions for their usage of the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) service. As of Monday, 27th July, VAT has ceased to be levied on the CRB fee. A further saving of £5 on the standard CRB rate will come into effect from 1st October 2009. English UK is an umbrella body for the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) service and the service helps to protect children and vulnerable adults by providing a first-class support for organisations recruiting people into positions of trust.
There will be a slight increase in the fee that English UK charges for this service from 1st October but the charge still represents unbeatable value and means that centres avoid having to pay a £300 registration fee and all of the costs and inconvenience associated with the secure handling and storage of such sensitive information. The charge remains among the lowest of rates levied by any commercial organisation.
The number of English UK member centres utilizing this service continues to grow and English UK processed nearly 650 applications during the 2008-09 academic year.
The rates from 27th July 2009 are as follows:
- Standard CRB check: £31 + admin charge (£3 + VAT)
- Enhanced CRB check: £36 + admin charge (£3 + VAT)
New rates from 1st October 2009 will be as follows:
- Standard CRB check: £26 + admin charge (£5 + VAT)
- Enhanced CRB check: £36 + admin charge (£5 + VAT)
