Daniele D'Ambrosio is 27 years old and from Rome. He has been studying general English at English UK member International House Bristol.

Why do you want to improve your English?

English will help me get a better job: that's the reason why I am here. It is the most international language so it's very important to speak English to a good level.

I graduated last July with a degree in political science and I'd like to work as a civil servant back in Rome, so I'm here to be as fluent as possible. I'll do the Cambridge exam and then go back to Italy.

What made you choose to study in the UK?

Well, it was a choice between the UK and the US - the US is great but it was too far. I love England, English culture, English music - Pink Floyd, Eric Clapton, Cream, Dire Straits. And now I can easily understand songs whose lyrics I don't know.

I think the UK was the best choice, both for travelling and the music I love.

Why Bristol? Do you like it?

I joined a friend here one summer about five years ago and I'm very happy here now. The school is very good, the teacher is good so yes, I am enjoying it.

Bristol is not a very big city like Rome but because of the university there are a lot of young people and a lot of things to do, clubs, restaurants or places to go. It's a good city. It's a short time but I am improving my English and I am enjoying myself.

Would you recommend studying English at an English UK centre to your friends?

Yes I would: it's not very far and I think Bristol is one of the best cities in the UK.
