Huan Japes, Membership Director

Huan runs English UK's membership team and is responsible for all aspects of membership services. He also oversees English UK's public affairs and lobbying, working alongside Susan Young, our external relations manager, and Naadiya Rawat, our compliance manager. As membership director Haun manages external stakeholder relations, including the ongoing Accreditation UK partnership with the British Council.

Huan provides input on English UK's annual programme of conferences and training sessions covering general and educational management, teaching and learning, and student welfare, and organises the Professional Development Action Group that advises on these areas. He also oversees the Accreditation Consultancy Service, which supports language centres preparing for Accreditation UK inspections.

Huan was well-known in the ELT sector both in the UK and abroad before joining English UK in 2012, previously he was TESOL manager for Trinity College London, responsible for TESOL qualifications, and before that training and recruitment manager for EF English First. Huan previously taught English in Italy and the UK and speaks French and Italian. He has a history degree from the University of London and a Masters in TESOL from the Institute of Education. He is particularly interested in CPD, e-learning and membership engagement.
