On Friday 6 January, local Kingston and Surbiton MP, James Berry, and the Deputy Mayor of Kingston, Rowena Bass, were guests of honour at the official opening of English UK member London Tutorial College as an independent school, fully recognised by the Department for Education.
The event was widely supported by the college students, parents, local families hosting international students, partner schools, businesses, educational agents and the police.
Following a guided tour of the school by the principal, Grażyna Anna Sutherland, both Mr Berry and Mrs Bass praised the addition of London Tutorial College to the map of DfE recognised schools in the borough. They have declared their support to its future development.
As well as English language courses, the college offers GCSE and A level, and accepts private exam candidates for AQA, Edexcel and OCR. LTC is the only accredited independent tutorial college of its kind in the borough.
Mr Berry said: 'Kingston has a rich tapestry of high quality education and London Tutorial College is a truly great addition to the Borough. As a student, I personally valued the opportunity to be able to learn in small groups as you get so much more out of it. The future is bright with LTC!'
The principal commented that she is keen for the College to play an increasingly vibrant role within the local community, both educationally and a community resource, and is proud to be offering even greater choice for local families when considering secondary education options for their children.
