VAT and regulation in the event of no-deal Brexit with Thomas Mobee of Buzzacott LLP
In the event of no-deal, the UK VAT system is expected to be in a state of flux, undergoing changes determined largely by the political circumstances in which the UK might find itself. We will look at the possible implications for educators, including charities and not-for-profit organisations, agents (both EU and non-EU based) and overseas students from both a VAT and regulatory perspective, including the application of the reverse charge regime. Finally, the VAT implications for the supply of digital services provided to consumers in other EU countries will be discussed.
Thomas Mobee has over 25 years of VAT consultancy experience, almost all of which with clients in the charity and not-for-profit sector. Thomas has been involved in the preparation of pioneering and widely-adopted VAT initiatives, most notably the ability to recover the VAT incurred on the cost of raising funds, including investment management fees. He has assisted a number of education, health and social care charity clients with their VAT issues.
