China-wide talent competition names English UK as partner
18 April 2016

English UK has partnered up with one of China's largest online education platforms for a competition expected to attract 200,000 entries.

There will be a hundred winners of the Britain's Got Talent-style competition, who will get the chance to study at English UK member centres in winter 2017.

Sarah Wang, international manager at English UK, said: "It's a really exciting opportunity for us to be involved in this: we believe there will be an enormous amount of publicity around this competition and the prizes in the Chinese media, and it will raise awareness of English UK member centres among all the students and their families who take part, as well as the wider public."

The competition, called The Audition For the Ambassador of Sino-UK Cultural Exchanges was launched last week in China. It takes place in 40 cities, with three rounds in May, July and August.

It is open to anyone aged 6-25, and competitors are encouraged to show off a variety of talents and skills, including dancing, music, singing, calligraphy, painting, sculpture and public speaking in English or Chinese.

All entrants will get a voucher to use towards a course available through organiser GENSHUIXUE, which is an online peer-to-peer education platform, offering courses in a variety of courses throughout China. Finalists will all get a certificate and the opportunity to study at an English UK centre with GSX sponsorship.
