Invite your MP to our parliamentary reception

Our 2024 parliamentary reception takes place on the Terrace Pavilion of the House of Commons on Thursday 16 May from 13:30 - 15:30.

Please encourage your current or prospective MP to attend. There is advice below to help you decide who to invite. 

The reception is a valuable opportunity for English UK members and the wider UK ELT community to network with MPs, Lords, diplomats and other stakeholders. We aim to raise the profile of our sector and our need for policy support from the government.

The event is kindly hosted by Stephen Hammond MP. Lunch and refreshments will be served.

Inviting your MP

We encourage you to invite the candidate who is most likely to win in the 2024 general election.

To work out who to invite, you can:

• see who is predicted to win in your constituency on the Electoral Calculus website
• check who your current MP is on the Parliament website
• find the confirmed Labour Party candidates on Labour List or the Liberal Democrat candidates on the Mark Pack website.

If you're not sure who to invite, you can email Naadiya for advice.

Please include a postcode in the MP's constituency when writing to them. This proves that they represent you and increases the chance of a positive response.

We also encourage you to invite the MP that represents your home address if there are any ELT centres in the constituency. In this case, include your home postcode.

Tickets for the reception

There's a small ticket fee for English UK members and other UK ELT supporters, to help us cover the cost of this event. Everyone is welcome.

You'll need a ticket to enter the House of Commons.
