Brexit will lead to a fundamental reshaping of UK immigration policy, visa policy and border control, with major implications for the UK international education sector.
To shed light on the current state of play and possible implications for the UK ELT sector in general and for English UK members in particular, Professor Jonathan Portes will deliver the keynote session at the English UK Annual Conference in Bristol this May.
Jonathan is Professor of Economics and Public Policy at King's College London and is a Senior Fellow of the Economic and Social Research Council's 'UK in a Changing Europe' initiative, which promotes high quality research into the relationship between the UK and the European Union. His current research concentrates on immigration and labour mobility, both within and outwith the EU, and the economic implications of Brexit.
His session will cover the UK's negotiations with the EU and the development of post-Brexit immigration policy. He will analyse possible implications and suggest what the sector's priorities should be in lobbying government.
We also look forward to hearing from Phoebe Griffith, associate director for migration, integration and communities at leading thinktank, IPPR; a panel on the current UK environment for international students; updates from UKVI on non-EU student immigration policy; and elective sessions on transnational education, what agents want and Accreditation UK.
Join us on Tuesday 9 and Wednesday 10 May at the Marriot Bristol Royal Hotel, Bristol, to hear from industry experts, meet fellow members and help shape our future.
